The Swiss Alps are famous for its mountaineering with a perfect blend of glacier travel, snow ascents and rock climbing. On this course you will learn fundamental mountaineering skills such as belaying, rappelling, rock and ice climbing techniques, and rescue procedures traveling through the rocky and steep terrain of the mountains around Gstaad. The development of your rock, snow and ice climbing techniques will lead to longer and more technical climbs including the opportunity of climbing one of the 4000m peaks of the Swiss Alps.

This robust route requires participants to be comfortable with airy trails, and to have nimble footwork. We will hike among stunning peaks, valleys and ridges with views of the famous Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. Sleeping and dining in dorm-style-mountain huts allows us to travel with light packs for our daily hikes.

The training phase of the course will be in the mountains around the famous ski resort of Gstaad. Mastering essential snow and ice climbing techniques will allow you to look for personal challenges throughout the Swiss Alps. This will give you the amazing opportunity to tackle sustained and technical climbs on fascinating peaks including the opportunity of climbing one of the 4000m peaks of the Swiss Alps.

On this intense safety and avalanche assessment course you will learn the fundamentals of traveling in avalanche terrain and to ride untouched powder slopes safely. Focus will be on risk management, first aid, decision making and route planning. While some of the lessons will be indoors most of the time we will spent in the mountains. While you increase your knowledge about avalanche awareness and master essential rescue techniques you will get more and more responsibilities in the daily route planning procedures.
It is essential for this course that participants are already comfortable off piste skiers or snowboarders.
